THANKFUL FOR GRAY HAIR

(Expressing Gratitude for the Wisdom that comes with Age) Brian Lightle, CCIM, SIOR, CREFounder During the autumn of 1985, I found myself in the vibrant neighborhood of Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia, working as a 24 year old Financial Consultant with Merrill Lynch. Fresh from my training with Merrill Lynch in New York City, I eagerly […]

Differentiation

While sitting in an airport about ten years ago I noticed a Harvard Business Review magazine with the cover story on “Differentiation” so I bought it and read it before I made it home.

The study was fascinating and extremely valuable as it spoke clearly about how we must honestly be able to show the difference between our abilities and those of our competition if we are to grow our business and succeed.

What Goes Up Must Come Down?

I will always remember the bumper sticker I saw in May 1989 at my first Las Vegas International Council of Shopping Centers convention:

“Dear God, please let there by one more real estate boom and I promise not to “throw” (another word actually used….) it all away this time!

CRE Newsletter

After 34 plus years as a Commercial Real Estate Broker people often assume that I will be retiring soon…quite the contrary! Over my career I have been blessed to work with many great people, companies, and situations all of which created great experience/knowledge about my industry and success for my clients.

Wisdom From My “Little Brother”

As I write this article our country remains embroiled in chaos as we continue to deal with the impacts of COVID 19 and the recent election process.

It is also customary for most of us this time of year to focus on the future with goal setting and forecasting about how the year will perform.

A Blessing or a Curse…

I’m sure it’s no surprise that my year as SIOR Florida Chapter has not gone as I had envisioned. First, I hope and pray that none of you have lost loved ones or friends to the COVID 19 Virus and that you and your families are staying safe and well.

Next, from an empty Gaylord Palms Hotel in March with a lighter Spring Conference crowd to the Palm Springs, CA World Conference being canceled to no Fall Florida Chapter Conference in Tampa this past August to the Fall World Conference starting online next week, definitely not how I hoped to represent the Florida Chapter!

What a Difference 10 Years Makes

In 2010, a story featured on CBS 60 Minutes was titled “The Death of the Space Coast” based on the triple hammer that destroyed our economy.

While the entire United States was suffering from the housing crisis and recession, the end of the Space Shuttle program cost our area an additional 7,500 high paying jobs (14,000 indirect job losses) and when Congress passed sequestration that summer, a freeze on Defense and Military spending hit the South Brevard area extra hard.

Serve and Communicate

Years ago when Team LBR worked to develop our company core values, we never dreamed just how critical the first two values would be in 2020.

Back in 2015 I asked each Team LBR member to come up with thoughts and words that reflected the values and foundational principles we work with on a daily basis to produce results for our clients and I actually received pages of input from the team.

What is an SIOR?

I am asked this question on a regular basis, “what is an SIOR?”

Let me start by saying it’s the accomplishment I am most proud of in my 31 plus years as a Commercial Real Estate Broker.

SIOR stands for the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and for more than 75 years has been the most trusted designation in commercial real estate, synonymous with the worlds most elite Office and Industrial professionals.
